Canterbury Park in conjunction with Xpressbet is offering an opportunity to qualify for the 2023 National Horseplayers Championship in a December 17 handicapping contest that will send a minimum of two players to Las Vegas to compete in the $3m three-day event.
Buy-in to the NHC qualifier contest is $400 live bankroll plus $100 entry fee for a total of $500. To be eligible to win an NHC berth, entrants must be NHC Tour members which has a $50 fee for those that do not have the annual membership.
Participants may play onsite in the Canterbury Park Racebook or through Xpressbet.com and the Xpressbet mobile app wherever permitted including Minnesota. Each individual player may have a maximum of two entries.
Players may wager on all contest-eligible tracks and pools including all straight wagers and all exotics. Full cards from Aqueduct, Gulfstream Park, Tampa Bay Downs and Oaklawn Park will be used.
Any money won through tournament wagers can then be wagered in subsequent bets. Order of contest finish will be determined by final bankroll and prizes will be awarded as follows:
1st) National Horseplayers Championship entry.

2nd) National Horseplayers Championship entry.

3rd) a third NHC seat will be added if there are 162 entries or more, otherwise 3rd place will receive prize money equal to entry fees for entries that exceed 109 but are less than 162.
Final bankrolls will be returned to each player at the conclusion of the tournament.
Super Satellites feeding into a December 10 Satellite have been going on for the past month and continue until December 3. These $10 contests award a $100 December 10 entry. One player for each 10 entrants in each weekly three-day session wins a $100 Satellite fee. There is no takeout in the Super Satellites; 100 percent of entry fees are returned as prizes or cash. That is true for the December 10 satellite as well. No takeout. For each 10 entries on December 10, two December 178 entries will be awarded, plus NHC Tour fee if needed.
