Qualify for the 2025 National Horseplayers Championship.
The tournament:
The Canterbury Park One Shot NHC Qualifier Handicapping Contest is a one-day handicapping contest held at Canterbury Park, Shakopee, Minn. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024. Winner will be awarded an entry to the 2025 National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas plus $400 travel stipend and accommodations during the NHC. One NHC entry is guaranteed.
Total cost per entry is $100.
Entrants must provide NHC Tour ID to play on December 21. An NHC Tour ID has a $50 cost and can be purchased on the day of the event or online at NTRA.com.
NHC prize package is valued at $5,100.
Format:
Players will select one horse in each of 12 predesignated races and will earn points based on a mythical $20 across the board wager. Entries, with all selections, must be submitted prior to the first contest race. No changes are permitted after the contest begins.
Contest races will be available Thursday, Dec 19.
Points are capped as follows: 420 win; 220 place; 120 show. All selections must be submitted prior to post time of the first contest race. Entrants will receive the post time favorite should a scratch occur. The player with the most points at the conclusion of the contest wins.
Cash from additional entry fees exceeding 52 entries will paid to second (60%) and third (40%) highest scores. If there are 102 entries, two NHC packages will be awarded and there will be no consolation cash.
To enter:
No player may have more than six entries. Players must enter in person at Canterbury Park on day of the event. No entries accepted after contest begins which is estimated to be noon.
