Two Kentucky Derby Preps This Weekend Will Determine Sept. 5 Line-up

With the Kentucky Derby moved to Sept. 5, several prep races awarding important Kentucky Derby qualifying points were added.  A major prep, The Travers at Saratoga, takes place Saturday and points are 100-40-20-10. The Derby will take 20 starters and right now 25 points is the cut line. An outsider finishing in the top 2 in the Travers can make a move into the Derby.  Tiz the Law is the point leader and the even money favorite in the Travers. Uncle Chuck is 22 currently and second choice in the Travers. Defections will get him to the Derby regardless.  Caracaro and South Bend are on the bubble and both go in the prep.

Sunday is the Ellis Park Derby with points awarded like this:  50-20-10-5.  The final prep is the Pegasus at Monmouth on Aug. 15 with 20-8-4-2. All the action is available in the Canterbury Park Racebook.

Speaking of the Kentucky Derby, tickets to enjoy the simulcast at Canterbury go on sale Friday. With the COVID-19 guidance in place, we can only accommodate 250 per level which means if you want to be here, you need to get a ticket.  Details can be found here >>>>   https://www.canterburypark.com/racing-promotions/derby-day/

The stakes-laden card on Saturday at Saratoga begins at 11am. Saratoga is the featured track for the weekly Road to Kentucky Contest.  Arrive on time and play for a chance at free cash. Plus the top two players weekly earn a spot in the Grand Prize Contest which will award entry to the $3 million National Horseplayers Championship.

Weekly Super Satellite contests are held each day except Sunday. Winners advance to the Dog Days Satellite.

Eleven handicappers made their move into the 24th annual Dog days of Summer Tournament last Saturday by winning a berth through The Lost Spring Handicapping Contest.
