Minnesota Racing Commission Steward Dave Smith resigned his position effective last Sunday following the final race. MRC Executive Director Tom DiPasquale has appointed, on a temporary basis, Larry Fontenot to serve through Aug. 14. Fontenot, who is Canterbury’s paddock judge and stall superintendent, is an accredited steward.
Dr. Jennifer Durenberger, also an accredited steward, has been nominated by DiPasquale to serve as steward effective Wednesday, Aug. 17. According to an MRC notice, Dr. Durenberger has served as Director of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, Association Steward at Delta Downs Race Track, and a commission veterinarian in California and Minnesota. Durenberger is active in the Racing Officials Accreditation Program and American Association of Equine Practitioners. She previously served on the Executive Board of the Association of Racing Commissioners International.
The Minnesota Racing Commission will act on this nomination at the Aug. 17 monthly meeting.
