Trainer Profile: Tammy Domenosky

Trainer Tammy Domenosky was a new face on the Canterbury scene last year.

Photographer Frank Mazzocco spent many hours in Tammy’s barn last year, documenting the life of a trainer. His photo essay can be found at www.picsbyfrank.com/domenosky
We would like to thank Frank for his hard work and also Tammy for opening up her barn and allowing Frank to capture some wonderful images.

Tammy was raised in Waukesha, Wis., but left for Tucson, Ariz., to study racetrack management at the University of Arizona. After arriving, she decided to sit out the first year to gain resident status for tuition reasons. She never got to the university. She began grooming and got her gallop license at Yavapai Downs in Prescott Valley and the rest is history. She went to work in the Justin Evans barn and worked there until getting her trainer’s license in February of 2007. Domenosky, 25, spent last summer at Canterbury Park before heading to Mountaineer Park for a short spell and then went on to Kansas and then Chicago. She has 22 horses in her barn this meet and is delighted to be back. “I really like the people here,” she said. “They are so happy to have you. They make you feel like you’re at home.”
