Tony Jones – Cross Country on Horseback

Tony Jones, a longtime horseman, decided to set out on the first of two cross country journeys on horseback in 2016. Jones saw issues that American veterans were facing and decided to ride across the country to spread awareness and meet people along the way. “I went out looking for one person, and I found thousands of them,” Jones said.

In 2016, Jones rode from Fort Pierre, South Dakota to Washington D.C., totaling 1600 miles. In 2020, Jones decided to go again, but he started his journey in Rio Vista, Texas.

Jones has been riding horses since his dad put him on a horse at six months old. Troy Bethke, trainer at Canterbury Park, gave Jones three horses to bring on the journeys. Jones rode Brysons Confession, a Minnesota Bred horse who raced at Canterbury, across the country.
