Favorites dominated Saturday night at Canterbury Park as the wagering choice won five of the seven races including two $50,000 state-bred six furlong stakes, the 10,000 Lakes and the Lady Slipper.
Thunders Rocknroll, with top jockey Manuel American aboard for his third win in four races, won the Lady Slipper by three lengths in 1:11.95. The 6-year-old Minnesota bred mare bred and owned by Bob Lindgren has now won 12 of 33 lifetime starts and $458,137 in purses. The prohibitive favorite paid $2.10 across the board. She is trained by Patrick Swan. Finishing second was Carson Bay and third was Lover Girl.

Street Warrior, who paid $2.60 as the favorite, battled in the early stages of the 10,000 Lakes before pulling away to win by 3 3/4 lengths. Constantino Roman rode the winning 5-year-old for owner Suzanne Stables and trainer Joel Berndt. Final time was 1:09.15, the fastest six furlong time of the meet.
“I think [Suzanne Stables] would be very pleased and then looking forward to more,” Berndt said when asked how the owners might feel about the gelding who has now won seven of 12 starts and $200,800.
Haunted Haze finished second. Distorted Pro was third.
Last season’s 3-year-old of the meet Sushi Man was victorious to begin his 4-year-old season winning a one-mile turf allowance by 4 1/4 lengths paying $2.60.
Americano closed out the card winning the final race for his fourth win of the evening. Total handle was $1,111,106.
