Suzanne and Paul Hanifl’s interest in racing started when they first began dating and went to the racetrack at Charles Town, West Virginia together. When Suzanne and Paul decided to own horses they teamed up and created the name Suzanne Stables. They each have specific roles within their ownership that have contributed to their success with ownership.
Suzanne Stables currently have six horses at Canterbury in training with Bernell Rhone. They also have horses at Arlington Park and in Kentucky. Long term they hope to be in Minnesota in the summers and Florida in the winters, with all of their horses being foaled in Minnesota.
“There are a lot of highs and lows with racing,” Suzanne explained. “But it’s the highs that keep you coming back for more.”
When the Suzanne and Paul aren’t at the racetrack they spend as much time as they can with their three children and seven grandchildren, all of which live in Minnesota. They also enjoy golfing, fishing, and traveling. “We love to travel. We travel all over,” Suzanne said.
