Stronach Has Had It

Frank Stronach, chairman of the companies that own Santa Anita, said yesterday that the ProRide surface will stay put at ‘The Great Race Place’ unless he sees some changes soon. Santa Anita has been plagued with cancellations ever since a state mandate rammed a synthetic surface down their throat. It is unfortunate the Mr. Stronach didn’t get ticked a couple of years ago. He could have taken a stand against this nonsense. He may have lost the battle but he would have been a hero instead of the goat that now owns the seriously damaged track that once was one of the most glorious venues in the nation.

California racing is in disarray and much of it was caused by this rush to judgement. This question was asked here before: if this was really about safety then why doesn’t the one track in California that conducts more racing than any other, Los Al, have a synthetic surface?
