Spend Breeders’ Cup in the Canterbury Park Racebook

Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1 and 2

Canterbury Park Racebook is the place to be to watch and wager on the Breeders’ Cup. The 41st rendition of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships takes place this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 1 and 2 at Del Mar Turf Club in Southern California. There are 14 Breeders’ Cup races in all, five on Friday and nine on Saturday.

Friday begins with a five-race undercard at 1:35 p.m. followed by the five BC races, all 2-year-old stakes.

Saturday has three undercard races beginning at 12:05 p.m. followed by nine consecutive BC races with the Breeders’ Cup Classic held mid-card as race 8. Visit the Breeders’ Cup site for post times, race order, and wagering menu.

The Canterbury Park Racebook opens Friday at 10:30 a.m. and Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with teller service available immediately. Keep in mind that there is no advance wagering Thursday but on Friday it is possible to wager on both Friday and Saturday Del Mar cards. Self-service wagering machines are available and open by 8 a.m. both days in the main lobby and the card casino.

There is no admission charge for either day. Multiple free seating options exist in the Club Level simulcast center and throughout Mezzanine Level. Reserved Clubhouse Terrace seating is still available and can be purchased here. General parking is always free. Preferred parking is $5.

Self-service wagering machines are available on both levels. Mutuel windows will be staffed with tellers on Clubhouse level both days and on Mezz level Saturday beginning at 11 a.m.

Chips Express with its expansive menu is located in the Card Casino and is open daily at 9 a.m. The Home Stretch Café on Clubhouse level is open both Friday and Saturday.

The Paddock Bar on Club is open both days. Bartenders at the Paddock Bar are able to take Chips Express orders with the food delivered to the bar. The Triple Crown Lounge bar opens Saturday at noon.

Use your skills to play the Crack the Cup Handicapping Contest.  Entrants make multiple selections in each of 14 Breeders’ Cup races and earn points for parimutuel payouts based on mythical $20 across-the-board wagers with payout caps of $30 win, $15 place and $10 show. Bonus points are also awarded based on outcomes. Entry deadline is post time of first Breeders’ Cup race on Friday. Entry begins Thursday, Oct. 31.

For those wagering in advance or possessing uncashed winning tickets, the Racebook opens Sunday, Nov. 3 at 10:30 a.m. with a teller available.
