Seven in Morehouse Memorial Sunday – Leg Up Fund Day

Seven Minnesota-bred quarter horses are entered in the $29,200 Bob Morehouse Memorial Stakes, the second race on Sunday’s 10-race program. Blacks Cartel is the richest in the field with $60,359 in earnings from 19 career starts. The 4-year-old filly most recently faced graded stakes company at Remington Park at the 400 yard Morehouse distance. She was not a factor at 41 to 1 odds and is 0 for 8 at 400 yards. David Pinon has the call for trainer Casey Black.

Vodka At Moonlight won the Minnesota Futurity last summer but this year is winless and off the board in two starts. Trainer Jason Olmstead removes the blinkers for this race.

Leg Up Fund

Sunday is also Leg Up Fund Day. The fund was established in 2014 to provide temporary, transitional support to riders injured at Canterbury as they recover and return to the saddle. There will be a silent auction to raise funds for the 501 (c) 3 as well as a raffle. Supporters can also sponsor a jockey or make a donation using this form.
