Each week, the Minnesota Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Agency, the organization that represents trainers, grooms and owners, honors a groom in a winner’s circle presentation.
This week the honored groom is Rod Grzesik.
Rod is both a groom and the shedrow foreman for trainer Troy Bethke.
According to Troy, Rod always gets to the barn early and is always one of the last to leave. In his charge are Hat Trick Jack, Mayzee and Withstandthestorm, all of which have won at the meet.
Rod says that each horse has its own personality and you have to be aware of this in order to best care for the horses.
In addition to Rod’s intuitive feel for the horses, Troy says that Rod’s work ethic is second to none.
For all that he does, Rod Grzesik is the Minnesota HBPA Groom of the Week.
