Congratulations to the Minnesota HBPA groom of the week Ramon Villalobos.
Ramon works for trainer Dick Cappellucci. This is his first season at Canterbury Park.
Ramon worked for Richard Mandella in California before moving to New Mexico where he
worked for several years. In 2017, Ramon was the groom for Conquest Mo Money who ran in both the Arkansas Derby and the Preakness.
Ramon has worked for the Cappellucci stable for about three years and is an important member of the stable. He takes great pride in his work and enjoys the success the horses under his care have had.
You’ll often find him in the paddock wearing a tie and button-up shirt as he leads his horse to the track and fairly often into the winner’s circle. Not the usual attire for a groom but something that has become Ramon’s trademark at Canterbury Park.
Ramon was honored in a winner’s circle presentation last night during the races.
