Red Dog Stable’s Perfect Bull is entered in Sunday’s $400,000 Oklahoma Derby at Remington Park. The Minnesota bred is trained by Bernell Rhone and will be ridden by Dean Butler. Perfect Bull was named 3-year-old colt of the meet this summer at Canterbury Park. The 1 1/8 mile race is the 9th on the card with a 5:06pm post time.
A Minnesota bred winning the Oklahoma Derby is not unprecedented. Wally’s Choice did it in 2004 when it was a Grade 3 event.
UPDATE: WALLY’S CHOICE now entered on Monday in a one mile optional claimer on the lawn.
Speaking of Wally’s Choice, he is entered in race 10 at Remington on Sunday: the $150,000 Remington Green Stakes at 1 1/16 mile on the turf. Canterbury Park Hall of Famer Luis Quinonez will ride for trainer Mike Biehler. If Wally wins he would become the all-time leading Minnesota bred money earner. Blair’s Cove currently holds that honor with lifetime earnings of $533,528. Wally’s Choice has a career bankroll of $489,889.
Biehler trains locally owned Pursue a Dream who also is entered in the Remington Green. Post time for the race is scheduled for 5:33pm.
