The Minnesota Quarter Horse Racing Association and Minnesota Lakes Barrel Race have joined forces to offer ‘off the track’ Minnesota racing Quarter Horses a barrel racing purse.
In an effort to help re-home off the track horses to new positive careers and reward the owners that give these horses that opportunity the following will be implemented: At the MN Lakes Barrel Race, October 17th, 2009, held at the Red Horse Ranch in Fergus Falls, Minnesota, MQHRA will have a $1000 purse for Off The Track Minnesota Quarter Horses. The MQHRA side pot will be restricted to horses with verifiable racing past performances that have raced either at Canterbury Park in Minnesota, or are Minnesota born and have raced at another AQHA approved track.
