Minnesota HBPA Horseperson of the Week: Taylor Van Winkle

Each week the Minnesota Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Organization, which represents the men and women that work with racehorses as well as horse owners, will recognize a Horseperson of the Week.

This award recognizes the hard work of individuals that usually go unnoticed, those that help make a barn or the racetrack a better place.  There is so much that goes on daily aside from what the public sees during a race day. This award recognizes a person behind the scenes that makes each horse special.

The honoree receives gifts from the Minnesota HBPA as well as Bravis Craft Mexican Kitchen in Shakopee and Luro Boots in Bloomington.

The Minnesota HBPA will recognize Taylor Van Winkle as Horseperson of the Week in the winners’ circle following Wednesday’s first race.. Taylor is a quiet and unassuming young woman and an extremely hard worker, committed to doing her best for her horses.

After attending college for two years, she decided that the academic life was not for her and she returned to the racetrack where she grew up. Her father is Hall of Fame trainer David Van Winkle. She joined the stable as groom, hot walker and barn manager.

Talyor got her trainer’s license in 2022 and is now owner and trainer of two horses racing at Canterbury Park.

She is very family oriented and enjoys working with family doing something she loves

Congratulations to Minnesota Horseperson of the Week Taylor Van Winkle.

Thank you to sponsors Bravis Craft Mexican Kitchen and Luro Boots.
