Each week the Minnesota Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association honors a horseperson of the week. This week that person is Kathleen Aiken.
Kathleen, from Chaska, Minnesota, developed an interest in horse racing at Canterbury Park when visiting the races with her family. She had always had a love of horses and for two years worked at a horse therapy farm for autistic children. Through a friend she met racehorse trainer Troy Bethke and is now spending her first racing season as a groom caring for horses like North Arm Bay, Fayette Warrior, and Flatter Me Baby. Troy praises Kathleen’s reliability, positive attitude and hard work ethic.
Kathleen is eager to expand her knowledge of racehorses and the industry. She is taking riding lessons at the Bethke farm and aspires to soon begin galloping horses on the track. Her next stop may be at Turf Paradise in Arizona working their winter meet.
She will be recognized in a winner’s circle presentation following the first race on Wednesday, joined by MNHBPA president Justin Revak.
Congratulations Kathleen Aiken, the Minnesota HBPA Horse Person of the Week.
Thank you to the Minnesota HBPA, Bravis Craft Mexican Kitchen and Luro Boots.
