Message To Canterbury Park Community – March 26

Canterbury Fans,

It’s been just over a week since we closed our doors, and yet somehow it feels like months. We look forward to the day we can welcome you back on property for our wide range of gaming, racing, entertainment and dining options. As we know from yesterday’s Governor’s address, that timeline is further out than we originally hoped. Governor Walz indicated the goal for businesses like ours is to be able to resume operations at the beginning of May.

Until that time, we will be working diligently to create new standards for safety and cleanliness at our facility, planning for our re-opening, and, like many of you, taking some time to call old friends, explore new hobbies and catch up on our favorite shows.

Since we last emailed, our team has disinfected every inch of our building, washed and sterilized all chip racks, trays and racebook wagering terminals (chips are being cleaned as we type this), and started implementing long-term cleaning protocols – all while adhering to proper social distancing standards.

Additionally, Canterbury Park donated more than 800 pounds of perishable food and produce we had onsite to the Shakopee Public School System for use in the childcare programs during the coronavirus outbreak along with food delivery to families in need. On Monday morning, we delivered a case of N95 masks and 30 boxes of nitrile gloves we had in our facilities inventory to St. Francis Regional Medical Center.

We will continue to do our part to minimize the impact of COVID-19, and recommend all of you follow CDC and state officials’ guidelines for social distancing, frequent hand washing, and self-quarantining as needed.

Planning and preparation for the 2020 live racing season is continuing, and we hope to have updates and more clarity on the schedule soon.

In the meantime, follow us on social media for updates on this rapidly evolving situation, and for content to keep you entertained during this challenging time.

We appreciate your ongoing support of Canterbury Park and look forward to seeing you again soon.
