Race 1: TURNSANDCONDITIONS showed speed in debut and gets the rail today. Dam has dropped some precocious runners. Expecting improvement with the start. FEROCITY has some fast workouts in preparation for his first start. Sire strikes with 17% of his debut runners. KISSALOT has a full-brother that won for this barn early in his career. Should benefit from the experience gained in last start.
Race 2: JEN TAKE CHARGE is on a roll having won the last two fairly easily. Should be closer today with the lack of early speed and then wear them down late. BEACH FLOWER seems to be kind of one-paced at this point in her career but can produce a winning effort every so often. APPLE DAPPLE has a couple of turf victories over this course and has raced in two stakes off the layoff. Gets class relief today.
Race 3: VIVA EL CAPITAN is bred to run well in dirt sprints as her sire has produced many top sprinters. Anticipating Diodoro has her ready to fire first time out. MISCHIEVOUSOFFICER is the “other” Diodoro and she has a bullet workout and the rail. If she breaks quickly, she could be heard from. OUTWORKTHEOKIEGIRL has some steady works and top jockey aboard. May be a prep for an Oklahoma bred race at Remington next month.
Race 4: JOHNNY UP was involved in a four-horse speed duel last out before pulling away. Not sure what he beat that day but another step forward is needed to beat this field. FIRE EXTINGUISHER faced a nice field in his meet debut with four next-out winners. Questioning the break after that race as a state-bred. SILVER DASH cuts back in distance but he broke his maiden sprinting so we know he’s capable.
Race 5: KINETIC SWAGGER tries the Canterbury grass for the third time after a win/place in first two attempts. Should get a perfect trip with the speed outside of him and Chirinos climbs aboard. BOURBON WISDOM has hit the board many times on the turf but only has one win. Connections have been winning often lately. DEVIL VISION comes from way out of it but there is a lot of speed in here to set it up for him.
Race 6: RASMUS looks to be controlling speed in a race lacking early pace. First-off the claim for Robertson and the addition of blinkers should add to his early zip. CINCO CATALINA cuts back to a sprint and his one start at today’s distance was one of his better efforts. IRISH CHARLIE tries one-turn for the first time in a long time and will be coming late but rarely passes all of them.
Race 7: TWIRLING ROSES drops from maiden-special-weights to maiden-claiming and is bred to love the added distance. If Wade can get them to relax early, he should be able to last. MARK IN GREELEY also drops in class but he comes from way out of it and will need a hot pace and some racing luck to maneuver through this big field. INCRIMINATION only had one race and that was 18 months ago but is bred to like the surface change and the route distance.
Race 8: FORTY NINE MODEL broke outwardly in last losing all chance. Drops dramatically in class and loves this distance. Should control the pace on the front-end. TEMUJIN LADY ran well first time on the turf in last and she likes to win. Will need to break sharper today to get in the mix early. SOME SAY SO has won $236K on the Canterbury lawn but her best days seem to be behind her.
Race 9: PEAK OF CHIC takes a huge drop in class for Robertson who wins at a 36% clip when trying this move. Has early speed and may shake loose. LIFE OF SATURDAYS tends to run evenly and that may be the winning style if the speed backs up. The last one running may win. UPTOWN JERSEY GIRL ran some competitive races as a 2-year-old. If she has matured over the winter, she could improve greatly.
Race 10: TRESJETDASH ships up from Prairie Meadows after a nice effort in her career debut. Need to break alertly today after coming out of the gate slowly in last. HES TUFF ENUFF improved greatly in second career start. Needs to continue that trend for leading trainer. QUICKSILVER GIRL debuts for Escobedo/Olmstead who are 41% together although Olmstead struggles with first-time-starters.
Race 11: TRES ELEGANCE broke his maiden at Remington out of a race where both the second and third place finishers came back to win. NVINCABLE finished strongly to get up in time in last. Will need to continue to improve for top connections. DEUTSCH won easily in debut but gets an extra 100 yards today so we’ll see if he can handle that.
