Countdown to the Cup

countdowncup_header

The four-week Countdown to the Cup Handicapping Contest begins Saturday.  Cash prizes in the form of Breeders’ Cup betting bankrolls are awarded to the top five players each week as well as to the five that accumulate the most points over the course of the contest.

Players in this free-to-enter affair select one horse in each contest race and earn points based on mutuel payouts, so the higher the odds the bigger the potential score.

Complete information and schedule are on the contest webpage.

This week the contest track is Santa Anita with the addition of two bonus races from Belmont: the Vosburgh and the Joe Hirsch Classic.

Dan Flanigan wins The Big One

Local horse player and horse owner Dan Flanigan, whose horses race under Caroline Street Stable,  won a major handicapping contest last weekend at Laurel Park.  He took down The Big One with a live bankroll total of more than $5,800, earning an additional $35,000 in prize money plus a $10,000 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge entry.
