When a bride is getting together with her girlfriends for a pre-wedding event, it’s nice to have something to commemorate the occasion.
Even better when that memento is something they have fun creating together, said Christy Williams, owner and artist at Bottle and Bottega Minneapolis.
The company will be bringing its unique platform to Canterbury Park for Brides, Brunch & Brushes on Sunday, March 18.
The event gives bridal parties a chance to sip and paint a custom wine glass, all while enjoying a four-course brunch, juice and coffee bar. Plus, all attendees will receive a wine glass with a Canterbury Park logo as a gift. Alcohol will be available for purchase.
“I love the atmosphere of the experience,” Williams said. “And people being open to art again. It’s something really creative and interesting to do.”
Local artists give step-by-step instructions during Bottle and Bottega events, said Williams, who got the idea for bringing the company to Minnesota after visiting the original location in Chicago on a date with her boyfriend, who is now her husband.
Sometimes guests feel a little intimated staring at a blank canvas, or get overly critical of their own work, Williams said. So she tells people: “Just have a drink of wine. It’s going to be fine. Stick with it.”
“It’s definitely about having fun,” Williams said. “These are talented artists, but they’re really hosting a party.”
Have Your Wedding Moments at Canterbury Park
Always interested in art, Williams — who has a background in marketing and public relations — has built a stable of local artists since founding Bottle and Bottega Minneapolis about four years ago. She started off partnering with restaurants or going to homes, but now has an Uptown Minneapolis studio people can visit.
The best part of Brides, Brunch & Brushes at Canterbury Park on March 18 will be seeing people tap into their inner artist, she said. “But it’s fun at the same time.”
People too often don’t have an artistic outlet in their lives, and Bottle and Bottega provides that experience.
“It’s such a creative way to express yourself,” Williams said. “The brides, they get to create something with a personal touch to celebrate the wedding and something personal to commemorate it.”
