Carin Offerman has been highly involved at Canterbury since 1994, serving on the board of directors. Before becoming involved with Canterbury she was into show horses. Carin bought her first thoroughbred mare and foal for racing in 1983. By 1985, Carin was racing the Minnesota-bred foal, her first race horse, at Canterbury.
“Being part of the group that purchased the track in 1994 is one of my favorite memories at Canterbury,” she said. “Being able to get Canterbury started again and saving racing in Minnesota is as good as it gets.”
Currently Carin is involved in two racing partnerships and also owns one racehorse on her own. Carin’s horses race predominantly at Canterbury but in the past she had horses run at Lincoln Race Track, Arlington Park, and Ak-Sar-Ben.
Thus far in the meet Carin has had two wins, one with Sweet Tango and the other with Bubba Looey. Carin currently works with trainers Francisco Bravo and Troy Bethke.
When Carin isn’t spending her time at Canterbury she has a dog training business, Puppy Good Start. “I keep active with training dogs,” she said. “I’ve always had a real interest in animal behavior training.”
