Canterbury Park June 4-5 Weekend Features Bulldog Races and Taste of Canterbury

72 bulldogs compete Sunday; Tacos and Tequila on Saturday

Canterbury Park is hosting the first in a series of three “Taste of Canterbury” events, beginning with Tacos and Tequila on Saturday, June 4. A $50 ticket allows guests to enjoy specialty Mexican cuisine, including classic tacos, elote bowls, tres leche cake and tequila drinks, in an exclusive setting in the grandstand’s Triple Crown Ballroom overlooking the racetrack. Entertainment will be provided by Los Rebeldes, a Mexican-American band performing Tex-Mex and Conjunto favorites.

Gates open at 4 p.m. prior to the first race at 5:10 p.m. “Taste of Canterbury” runs from 5 p.m. through the end of racing at approximately 10 p.m. Admission to racing is included with ticket purchase. The culinary series will also include Bourbon and Whiskey Smokehouse on July 9 and Asian Bistro on July 30.

The following day, June 5, Canterbury kicks off its annual dog racing series with English Bulldogs competing in short dashes in “The Running of the Bulldogs” on the racetrack. The 72 bulldogs will race in six heats between horse races, stealing the show on Pepsi Family Sunday. First post time is 1 p.m.

The winners of each race advance to the Bark in the Park Finals for a chance to be crowned the champion in their category during the “Bark in the Park” Finals on Sunday, Sept. 4. Canterbury Park will also host Basset Hound racing on June 26, Corgis on July 31 and Wiener Dogs on August 14.
