The 2016 Canterbury Park racing season is taking shape with just six months until the proposed 69-day season begins. Racetrack officials this week submitted a live racing calendar to the Minnesota Racing Commission that would have the meet begin on Friday, May 20 and run through Saturday, Sept. 17.

Post times would remain the same: 12:45 p.m. on weekends and holidays; 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays.

The proposal will be considered by the MRC at the December meeting.

The 2016 stakes schedule will be announced in January.
