The Oracle Wins Showvivor

The Oracle, a frequent contributor to this blog, out-handicapped 6929 other players to win the top prize of $3,000 and a Vegas getaway in Santa Anita’s Showvivor contest. The contest required entrants to select one horse each racing day at Santa Anita. That selection needed to run in the top three in order to remain in the contest; miss the board and you’re eliminated.

Showvivor began on March 4 and lasted 26 racing days. The Oracle selected 18 winners, three seconds, and five thirds. He battled TheDonald for several days before that opponent selected a 5/2 shot yesterday that ran fifth and ended the contest.

“That was fun and a big relief when it ended,” The Oracle said. “This and getting to the National Handicapping Championship last year rank right up there for me.” He focuses mainly on mid level tracks with real dirt surfaces so Santa Anita’s synthetic surface was a challenge. ” Maybe I will have to reconsider this synthetic stuff…….”

Oracle, usually more Silent Bob than Jay, spoke loquaciously with Ed Golden of the Santa Anita publicity staff. Find that interview here.
