Shared Belief – Charles Town Classic – Saturday

shared belief

The Road to Kentucky Handicapping Contest continues Saturday with Keeneland’s 10-race program. While there is no Kentucky Derby prep race this weekend, that won’t stop Canterbury from giving away $1,350 in prize money to the top players in this free-to-enter contest. Post time at Keeneland is scheduled for noon with the final race running at 4:44 p.m., just minutes before Shared Belief races in the $1.5 million Charles Town Classic.

Shared Belief, arguably the best horse training in North America, is 2 to 5 on the morning line in the 1 1/8 mile race. He will face eight opponents including the fleet-of-foot Moreno. Charles Town will offer a $100,000 guaranteed Pick 4 that begins in race nine and concludes with the Charles Town Classic.

Live racing is less than 30 days away.  The racing calendar is here

In the ‘Don’t report it until you see (or don’t see) the whites of their eyes’ department, jockey Alex Canchari may have reassessed the situation and will be riding at Canterbury Park this year contrary to what was stated in this space last week.

This author, in the 90s, once gave a reporter the scoop that a certain jockey was retiring. It appeared in print. That certain jockey rode another 12 years.

Lesson re-learned.
