Canterbury Park continues its Thursday through Sunday racing schedule in August with Saturday post time moving to evenings for the month. Racing begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays, Aug. 6, 13, and 20. On Saturday, Aug. 27, Mystic Lake Derby Day, racing begins at 6:00 p.m. Post time for Thursday and Friday racing remains 6:30 p.m. and Sunday racing begins at 12:45 p.m.
The $200,000 Mystic Lake Derby is Canterbury Park’s richest race. The Aug. 27 card also includes the $75,000 Minnesota HBPA Distaff and the $75,000 Brooks Fields Stakes.
An exhibition of Indian Horse Relay, high-speed bareback racing, will also be featured on the track that evening. Indian Horse Relay showcases 16 teams representing eight American Indian nations competing for $50,000 in prize money. Indian Horse Relay will also be conducted Thursday and Friday, Aug. 25 and 26 with two trial heats each night. The top eight teams from those trials advance to the Canterbury Park Indian Horse Relay Inter-Tribal Championship on Aug. 27.
