Power Outage Causes Cancellation

Failure of a main power feed resulting in a power outage prior to race six on Friday night forced a cancellation of the remaining four races.
Shakopee Public Utilities workers were unable to immediately repair the line leaving Canterbury officials no choice but to cancel.
While an emergency back-up generator kept the building from going completely dark, that power is not sufficient to safely conduct racing.

Power was restored shortly before midnight.

Minnesota Racing Commission rules covering pick six procedures resulted in a full refund of all pick six wagers made on Friday. The statute states that if three or more races in the sequence are cancelled, 100% of all wagers made on the pick six that day must be refunded. The carryover, $13,000, shifts to today’s card.
