Play in the BCBC Big Ten Contest

On Thursday, Sept. 16, Canterbury Park is hosting the year’s biggest Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge qualifying contest of the year where 10 BCBC entries will be awarded as well as two National Horseplayer Championship entries and a minimum of $10,000 in cash. The total in prizes and cash is $120,000. The BCBC entry is valued at $10,000 and includes a $7,500 live bankroll where players battle on Breeders’ Cup weekend for huge prize money.

While the $3,000 price tag to get in on Sept. 16 might be prohibitive to many, there are inexpensive options that allow handicappers a chance to be involved on that closing night of the Canterbury meet. Next Sunday, Sept. 5 is a $100 contest featuring all of the Canterbury thoroughbred races that day. Entrants select one horse in each race, submit those selections along with the entry fee to the third level information desk before race one, and earn points based on across-the-board mutuel payouts of the picks. For each 30 entries there is one winner of the $3,000 entry.

In that Sept. 16 contest, the BCBC Big Ten,  $2,000 of the entry is live money, money to be bet into the pools with the resulting balance returning to the player.

On Saturday, Sept. 11 is another $100 entry contest with a different format. Ten races from the simulcast schedule, likely to include races from Monmouth, Gulfstream and Arlington will be used and players are provided a $2,000 mythical bankroll and wager WPS, exacta and trifecta in those races. Winners are based on final mythical bankroll totals and again one $3,000 berth for each 30 entries will be awarded. One hundred percent of entry fees Sept. 11 are returned as prizes and cash.

It is possible to win an entry to Sept. 11 in the super satellite contest held this Thursday through Saturday.

On Sept. 16, the $2,000 live bankroll is played into the WPS, exacta, trifecta and double pools. The competition is nationwide with players outside of Minnesota wagering into the same pools through Xpressbet, TVG and NYRAbets however the best score on track at Canterbury is guaranteed a BCBC entry.
