Majestic Pride, the 4 to 5 favorite, held off a late charge from Fear the Cowboy to win the $41,600 John Bullit Overnight Stakes Friday evening at Canterbury Park. The 4-year-old colt, owned by Hugh Robertson, Jeff Ryan, and Gary Chanen, was ridden by jockey Dean Butler and is trained by Mac Robertson, leading trainer at the Shakopee, Minn. racetrack. Canterbury’s 69-day meet concludes Saturday.

Majestic Pride tracked in third behind pacesetter Flashy Jewel through the majority of the 1 1/16 mile race. In mid-stretch he passed the leader and then withstood the challenge of Fear the Cowboy to win by a neck in a rapid 1:42.10. He returned $3.80 to win.

Majestic Pride, a candidate for Horse of the Meet, has won four races this summer at Canterbury including the $75,000 Brooks Fields Stakes. His career stats include three additional wins and purse earnings totaling $221,869.
