Canterbury Racing Club 2019

The Canterbury Racing Club is back for its 11th season. The club originated in 2009 to provide interested racing fans with an inexpensive and educational way to ‘own’ a racehorse and experience all that is involved.  At the end of each year the Club disbands, the remaining money is dispersed, and a new version is formed the following season. It started small with about 65 members and peaked with more than 200 one year. The 2019 Club has 160 members ready to get to the winner’s circle. Each member contributes $250 and that money is used to claim a horse or two and pay all bills. Since its inception several tracks around the country have begun forming similar clubs.

The Canterbury Racing Club has had much success over the years. In 2009 the club won with its first horse, Tahitian Queen (pictured above). The Club is currently campaigning Dos Cuernos, in training with Nevada Litfin.

Club members often get together on race days and also enjoy backside tours of the grounds. Throughout its history, many members have gone on to purchase horses individually or through partnerships with other owners.

The Club begins taking members each February. To find out how you can join in the excitement of ownership, go to Canterburyracingclub.com.
