Trainer Steve Asmussen established a new North American single-season record for wins by a trainer on Sunday, when Poppin won the thirteenth race at Woodbine. Asmussen sent out a total of 14 starters Sunday and had a total of three winners for the day. Asmussen’s victories pushed his single season win total to 623, surpassing his previous record of 622 wins in a year, which was set in 2004.
