A Mighty Fortune Wins $37,500 MN Stallion Breeders’ Futurity

A Mighty Fortune

A Mighty Fortune won the $37,500 Minnesota Stallion Breeders’ Quarter Horse Futurity Sunday at Canterbury Park. The 2-year-old filly is trained by Canterbury Hall of Fame trainer Edward Ross Hardy, owned by Bob Hardy, and was ridden by David Pinon.  She paid $26.00 to win.

“We’ve always liked the filly. She’s shown a lot of improvement throughout every single race,” Pinon said. “We were fortunate enough to come out on top.”

A Mighty Fortune broke in front from the seven post position and never relinquished the lead, holding off second-place finisher Fast Eye Opener by one-half length, covering 350 yards in 18.287 seconds. Nobull Just Corona was third.

In the June 21 trials, A Mighty Fortune drew the outside post and broke to the right from the starting gate. She was the ninth fastest qualifier of the ten that advanced to the futurity final.

“She was in between horses today,” Pinon said. “She was on the outside in the trials. She left there rocking today and I couldn’t have asked for a better race.”
