Angela Hermann – Track Handicapper

You’ve probably been watching the Twins and wondering…..how can it be this bad and will Kevin Gorg be at Target Field and Canterbury Park at the same time?

Well, yours truly will fill those shoes this summer at the track. My name is Angel a Hermann and I am ‘Taking the Reins’ so to speak in our beautiful paddock this year. I’ve worked at Canterbury for eight years now, and words can’t describe how excited I am to take on this challenge. Over the years, I’ve managed to work my way from (bear with me) Usher to Hostess to Information to Greeter….to Nebraska. The only hiatus in my time at Canterbury came to work as analyst at Lincoln’s State Fair Park and at Columbus Ag Park in the land of the Cornhusker. Though the time down south was both beneficial and educational…as they say, there is no place like home.

A graduate of Apple Valley High School, I am a Minnesota girl through and through. My family is not one that’s ever been involved with horses, but my passion for the animals has always been a driving force in leading me to the racetrack. Through horse camps, horse books, horse shows, horse magazines (You get the point) I managed to catch Derby Fever at eleven with Real Quiet in 1998. Through the Triple Crown run of that year my interest soared from neutral to overdrive. The rest, as they say, is history.

I wish I had a more Disney-type tale to tell, but this will have to do. This is going to be a great summer of racing! Make your way down to the paddock – I hope to see each and every one of you!
