Diamonds Edge wins Great Lakes Stakes

Diamonds Edge - Great Lakes Stakes - 07-05-14

Diamonds Edge won the $21,400 Great Lakes Stakes by one length Saturday at Canterbury Park. Nik Goodwin rode the winner for owner Hipolito Bueno of Niles, Ill. and trainer Rafael Flores.  Final time for the 440 yards was 22.138 seconds over a fast track. Diamonds Edge paid $27.00 to win. City Street was second and Specialscountrychick finished third. Wagering favorite Bf Farm Boy finished fifth.

“The first time I saw him is when I got on him in the walking ring,” said Goodwin of the winner. “I owe it all to Rafael. He called me and told me he had a horse that was running well. He told me it could win and asked if I would ride.”
