The 34th Breeders’ Cup will be held Friday and Saturday, Nov. 3 and 4. Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Southern California will host the event for the first time.
The Breeders’ Cup brings together the best thoroughbred racehorses in the world over the two-day, 13-race wagering extravaganza. Last year when the event was held at Santa Anita, more than $124 million was bet on the championship races.
This Wednesday the pre-entries for Breeders’ Cup will be announced. Advance past performances will be available online that night and in the print edition later this week.
Entries and post position draw will take place Monday, Oct. 30.
Advance wagering will be available at Canterbury Park on Thursday, Nov. 2.

• Favorites have won 97 of 305 Breeders’ Cup races, a 33 percent rate. The worst finish by a favorite was in the 2003 Juvenile at Santa Anita Park when Cuvee finished 12th by 58 lengths at 3-2.
• There have been 57 odds-on (.90 or less) choices with 26 winners.
• There have been 39 horses to go off at odds of 100-1 or greater; only Arcangues, winner of the 1993 Classic at 133.60-1, has finished in the money.
