POKER FAQS

Q:

I've heard it called a Card Club.  Do you have to be a member?
A:

You’re already a member! Canterbury Park’s Card Casino is open to everyone 18 years of age or older. There is no admission, no membership necessary, and we’re open 24 hours a day, 364 days a year.

Q:

  What games do you have?

 A:

The Canterbury Park Card Casino has a full array of poker games including Texas Hold ‘Em, Omaha Hi-Lo and Seven Card Stud with limits ranging from $2.00-$4.00 all the way up to $50.00-$100.00.

Q:

How do I get in a game?

A:

Simply go to the big board in the front of the poker room and let the board personnel what game you’d like to play and what limit.  If there is a seat open, they’ll direct you to the table. At other times, you may be added to the waiting list for the game(s) you want to play. Of course, if you have an MVP Card, you can use the self-service kiosk next to the board.

Q:

How long do I have to play?

A:

Play as long as you like or as short as you like. There are no time limits to any of our games. If you’d like to play for a few hours or a few minutes, it is completely up to you.

Q:

  What’s the buy-in?

A:

Generally in the poker games, the minimum buy-in is 5-times the maximum bet. For example at $3.00-$6.00 Texas Hold ‘Em, the minimum buy-in would be $30.00.

Q:

How do I get my chips?

A:

In the poker room, you may have a chip runner bring them directly to your table when you sit down or you may buy them at the cage.

Q:

Can you smoke in the Card Casino?

A:

Although the entire building is smoke free in accordance with Minnesota State law, we have several outdoor designated smoking areas.

Q:

  Do you serve alcohol?

A:

We have a full bar that is open until 2 AM

Q:

Is there food in the card casino?

A:

Absolutely!  We have 24-hour tableside food and beverage service along with a buffets every Wednesday–Sunday. The Finish Line Café is also open around the clock.

Q:

How do I get on your mailing list?

A:

The best and easiest way to keep informed about our promotions and schedules is to sign up for our MVP card. As an MVP member you’ll be able to earn both cash and comp for your play anywhere in the building, and you’ll be kept informed of what is going on here at the park. Make sure to give us your email address, as well, to be eligible for email only promotions. To sign up all you need to do is present your ID to either of our MVP booths – One is located on Club Level right next to the escalators, then other is in the front of the poker room.
